Discover the natural beauty of the very northern district of Thailand. Visit the famous Yao hill tribe, temples and enjoy a boat-ride along the Mekong River. Explore the border town Mae Sai between Thailand and Burma, these are just some highlights of this special Golden Triangle Tour.

Day 1: Chiang Mai - Mae Salong 08.00: Pick up from your hotel in Chiang Mai. You drive up to Chiang Rai via Fang and Thaton. Lunch at a local restaurant en route. Early afternoon you continue to Mae Salong Mountain, a former stronghold of the Nationalist Chinese Kuomintang Army. Today Mae Salong is a Chinese enclave close to the Burmese border of north Thailand where the Chinese traditions are still practiced. Along the 38 KM mountain road you visit the hill tribe villages of Akha and Yao tribes and visit the school of hill tribe,s children.  Dinner and Overnight at Mae Salong Villa, a Chinese bungalow resort build on a hill at Mae Salong with a spectacular view over the village and the mountains of the border area.

Day 2: Mae Salong - Chiang Rai
08.00: After breakfast departure to Doi Tung Mountain where you visit "His Majesty the Kings Mothers Royal Chalet", famous for its flowers garden. Continue to Mae Sai, the border town between Thailand and Burma (Myanmar). Lunch at a local restaurant. You visit the border market and the Northern most point of Thailand. Return to Chiang Rai City. Overnight at Wiang Inn Hotel.

Day 3: Chiang Rai - Golden Triangle
08.00: After breakfast departure to the Golden Triangle, the border area where the three countries Laos, Burma and Thailand meet at the Mekong River, famous for its opium producing history. You take a boat trip along Mekong River  to Chiang Saen (about 30 minutes), where you visit the temple of Chiang Saen. Continue to Chiang Khong, en-route visit a Lisu hill tribe village. Lunch at a local restaurant. Return to Chiang Rai City. Overnight at Wiang Inn Hotel.

Day 4: Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai
08.00: After breakfast departure to the Mae Kok River pier for boarding on the long tail
boat to visit a Karen hill tribe village. Transfer from the pier back to Wiang Inn Hotel by rickshaw. Lunch at Wiang Inn Hotel. Afternoon  return to Chiang Mai on the route of Wiang Papao and Doi Saket. En route visit the hot spring at Mae Khajarn. Return to Chiang Mai and transfer to the hotel.
